Mountain Line Downtown Connection Center, Flagstaff, Arizona, 2025

Lion Eyes (Through the Forest) is an illuminated glass installation over the entry to Mountain Line’s new headquarters. The imagery depicted through a grid of small dots is inspired by elements of the transit agency‘s logo and Flagstaff’s natural beauty, including a mountain lion, the San Francisco peaks, and Ponderosa pine trees. The three-color layers are superimposed, blending where they overlap. At night, LED fixtures inside the building illuminate the glass from behind. Different colored lights highlight individual layers of the overlapped images, making some images change color and come to the foreground as others recede.

Lion Eyes (Through the Forest) was commissioned by the City of Flagstaff. The glass was fabricated by Glasmalerei Peters and installed by Loven and Demers.
