City of Bellevue; Bellevue, WA; 2007
This art plan for 9 downtown super-blocks in a rapidly growing city with an economy based in technology was produced in conjunction with the Downtown Bellevue Great Streets Plan by Mithun, which included concepts for street corridor designs and a toolkit for parts within those designs. The art plan portion of the Great Streets plan, by Haddad|Drugan, identifies art locations and links specific themes to those locations. The plan is conceived as a “System of Conductors,” the spine of which is a network of thematic “Circuits,” or strands of integrated, functional artworks that are part of the streetscape toolkit. The Circuits are punctuated by art events referred to as “Nodes,” “Interfaces,” and “Synapses,” which are more condensed place-based expressions of the Circuitry themes.
